4 Signs That Your Air Conditioning System Need To Be Repaired

Blog

The air conditioning system of your home plays an important role in controlling the climate of your living space. It removes warm air form the home and sends cooled air into the space. Thus, when the air conditioner breaks down or fails to operate as it should, immediate repair is necessary. Here are a few signs that your system needs to be repaired:

Loud Operation

Most air conditioning systems are not completely silent. Some sound is emitted from the motor of the system as well as from the flow of air into your living space. However, some sounds are simply not normal.

Loud noises, such as banging or clunking, are not typical for a unit that is operating as it should. These noises may suggest that a part of your air conditioning system is no longer securely in place. In order to determine which component is making the noise, professional inspection is needed.

No Response to the Thermostat

If you set the temperature of your thermostat to the desired level and your air conditioning system does not respond, there could be a problem with your thermostat. The air conditioning system may fail to respond to the thermostat if there is a problem with the electrical wiring that leads from the thermostat to the system. In addition, there could be a problem with the compressor of the air conditioner.

Warm Airflow

If the air from your output vents is not as cool as it once was, your air conditioning system may need more refrigerant. Chemical refrigerants, such as freon, should only be installed by a professional air conditioner technician. He or she can determine the amount of refrigerant needed and install it safely.

Reduced Air Flow

If the ventilation ducts of your air conditioning system become clogged with dirt or debris,  the air flow into your home may be hindered. There may also be issues with your ventilation ducts if some rooms in home remain cooler than others. Sometimes only specific ducts contain debris or have blockages.

Routine cleaning of your ducts should be conducted periodically by a professional. Some people choose to have their air conditioning system inspected annually so that routine maintenance, such as duct cleaning, occurs on a scheduled basis.

If you are having trouble with the air conditioning system in your home, contact an HVAC specialist, like Approved Home Pros, in your area. He or she will be able to inspect your system and determine the cause of the issues.
